Food: Theme Thursday

My Favorite Breakfast (and sometimes lunch):

Drizzle some olive oil into a hot pan.  Saute onions ( I prefer the sweeter varieties) until slightly softened.  Add tomatoes and let saute for about a minute more.  Add spinach or other greens and heat until just wilted, usually under a minute.  Move to a plate.  Use the same pan to cook eggs to your taste.  Sprinkle it all with S & P and enjoy!  (Extremely delicious bonus: add some avocados a garnish.)

One note: I totally botched the eggs this morning, hence the lack of their dramatic presence in the photo above.  I’m a lot better at cooking them than I used to be (right, Kev?) but I still mess them up occasionally.  Usually only for important things like photo shoots and state dinners.

Finally: I love love love my 50mm lens, but for the life of me, I can’t get the depth of field right on close-up shots.  There’s always some essential aspect of the photo blurred out.  Any tips, photog-friends?

  2. Looks great – avocado DOES make a delicious garnish to most things 🙂 Also, I really liked the eye being drawn to the tomato as the front spinach was out of focus, but good luck with your work on depth of field!

  3. I make this exact thing all. The. Time. Just for myself, minus the eggs. I like my carbs, so with rice or a pita. Anyway, it’s a beautiful shot!

  4. Oh that does look like a yummy breakfast! I think you can top an egg (or bacon) on anything and it will automatically be tastier. =)

  5. Yum. I’d never think to do this for breakfast, tho I have done the eggs and avocado. What a great way to get in more greens!

  7. Looks good, but I think I’d go more for lunch than breakfast. As far as the blurriness, I noticed you shot this at f /3.2. Try a higher f stop because the lower the number the shallower the depth of field. If you need more light, boost your ISO a bit and go with more of a 5.6 or higher f/stop.
