Trails: Theme Thursday, and other Quick Takes

~1~

We’re on a trip right now (which I know we’re totally not supposed to admit online because: robbers and vagrants and riffraff. But I hardly think there are any of the above who read my little old blog/knows where I live, so I’m going to go with honesty) and CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE I forgot my camera? It’s like saying I forgot my… left pinky finger or something.

So I’m making up for lack of camera with insane Instagramming.

My 2 religious brothers: 1 priest, 1 seminarian. Pray for them, okay?

And just to show you we aren't the run of the mill Catholics, here's my dad heading out to visit his mom... on his motorcycle.

Trails is the topic for Theme Thursday.  Fortunately, I’m in Trail Country, CA* and I borrowed my parents point-and-shoot to snap some photos on our walk this evening.  I don’t do any editing or playing with color.  Just a gorgeous time of day in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Bokeh!

Shortly after this shot, one of the kids almost fell off the rock... So perhaps not the best staging?

Thanks to all who have purchased a Homeschool Bundle from Build Your Own Bundle.  The sale is on until Sunday night, so make sure you finish your purchase before then.  I’m definitely going to by something, but I can’t decide whether to build my own or buy the Charlotte Mason one.  Hmmm…

Tomorrow we head even further north for a family reunion.  It’s going to be super fun.  And my family, who has a repuatation of dorkiness and also for extreme extroverted behavior, has decided to do a surprise performance…

Imagine this…

But with a bigger group of slightly less talented people. What do you think?  Should I take a video?

Please, please, please, send up a prayer for people suffering in the Middle East.  This whole business with ISIS, the persectution of Christians, the oppression of women, deaths at the hands of various military and extremist groups… my heart just aches for people around the world.  If you feel so inclined, consider joining me and many others in a day of fasting and prayer tomorrow (Friday).

Finally, and on a much lighter note, I hope all the ladies at #Edel14 have a wonderful time.  I’m not gonna say I’m not jealous, but I do hope everyone arrives there and home safely, and has a super fantastic time.

  1. Looks like a great vacation and your family would be a blast to hang out with! I can’t wait to look at the curriculum bundles!

  2. The middle-east conflicts are killing me right now. Doesn’t it remind you of our Ancient History curriculum? When we say “that’s how people were a long time ago” it makes it easier to deal with mentally, but when it’s happening right now, today, and we can see the images of the suffering, it makes it SO REAL.

And I totally played that cup game when I was in high school! We always did it sitting in a circle so we could pass the cup, not just move it over. I saw a couple people playing that way in the video. Love it set to music, though. Please tell me you guys will be singing in said performance!!! And a video is REQUIRED.
