A conference, a new website, and an apology… of sorts

It’s 11:08 PM and I swear to you, Ezekiel just fell asleep.  Have I mentioned how much I hate Daylight Savings?  It seriously makes me want to punch someone.  Which I will not do, but if there was a person responsible for this misery, I would consider unleashing some of my wrath (verbal, of course) upon him or her.  And since John 2:15 was the reading last Sunday, my righteous anger made me think of this:

… which just makes me laugh and laugh every time I read it.  Go, Jesus.  I heart you.

I’ve been a busy little bee online, just not on this particular… line.  I’m helping to plan a conference for Catholic women bloggers in my region.  It’s sure to be a good time, so if you’re even remotely close to my neck of the arid desert, you should totally come hang with me in April.

Catholic Women Blogging Network // California Conference

It’s going to be loads of fun, and informative, too!  See the (very beautiful) website for more details, and please share with anyone who might be interested.  And if you’re in the market for a web designer, check out Andrea from Shine Ave. Creative.  She is amazingly lovely and helpful and talented and all the things you want in a web designer!

I am sorry that I’ve been neglecting the blog so much lately.  But I’m also working on having the right type of guilt in the correct amount, so  I’m not tooooooo sorry.  Just sorry that I’ve been out of touch.

The Stella Maris Book Club is trying something new this Lent.  We are each reading our own spiritual book and then we’ll be sharing about them the week before Holy Week.  If you’re lagging a bit this mid-way point of Lent, feel free to consider this the kick in the pants that will get you back on track.

Stella Maris Book Club

You can join the Stella Maris Facebook group for slightly more frequent updates, but I think I’ll be hosting this book report event on the blog… somehow.  There are at least a few people who are interested in this book club who aren’t on Facebook.  Time to get them in the mix.  (I’m looking at you, Abby.)  ; )

Tomorrow morning (today by the time you read this) I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist for Zeke.  It is for a second opinion on the issues I talked about last Fall.  I wasn’t even slightly nervous about it until just now.  Will you say a quick prayer for him and for me?

Yesterday was Aliya’s birthday.  I cannot even get over the fact that she is 8!  Amazing!

Here is her birth story, in case you missed it.  I like to call it my Redemption Birth.  And if she isn’t just the prettiest little thing, I don’t know what is.

Leaving you with one last thought.  Last December, as I sat in Eucharistic Adoration, a word came to me.  With tears streaming down my face, I knew that the word “gratitude” was to be my word for this year.  It has really and truly changed the way I look at things, both big and small, and as I shared last week  made such a huge impact on my everyday.  Just today I was contemplating it again and it struck me that “gratis” is the Spanish word for free (no cost).  Seeing how they have the same root, I wonder which is free: the gift or the gratitude.  What do you think?

And with that, I leave you.

Except, leave me a comment.  Because I miss you.

  1. Miss you, too 🙂 And I still love that we gave birth on the same day! I so wish I could be at one of the conferences. The one in our area is right at the week I’m due so I won’t be able to attend…want to fly me out to Cali for yours?!? Prayers for you and Zeke.

  2. I keep thinking to myself….California isn’t THAT far (it totally is!) still trying to convince Hubby that a cross country trip to Disneyland and all my bloggy friends wouldn’t be a terrible idea in the next couple years.

  3. Love the book club idea. 🙂 I might just pop over there… although I am beginning to discover that I am gosh awful at writing book reviews, hah. We shall see.

  4. Hope Zeke’s appointment went well today!

The conference link only takes me to the CA conference; do you know how to find out about the Mid-Atlantic one?
