Sun Flare: Theme Thursday

Did anyone else have trouble catching sun flare this week?  In southern California it was ridiculously, disgustingly hot. But not just hot, nononono. It was also muggy and overcast.

Seriously, California.  I am thiiiiiis close to breaking up with you.

Anyway, muggy meant cloudy which meant difficult to catch sun flare. But in the 11th hour, I found it.  Of course, I had to travel 250 miles north to do so, but fine. It was worth it.

My camera is acting up these days, too, so I had to reduce the exposure on Photoshop, but otherwise, this is SOOC. Not as clean as I usually like them, but a cute baby certainly makes up for some of that.  And I suh-wear her hair is dark brown but look at those red highlights!

If I could, I’d like to throw a prayer request at you: my granny is in the final stages of her beautiful life.  Would you please pray for a peaceful passing and a joyful reunion with Jesus? Thanks so much, friends.

Here is a moment between Granny and Rosalie today.:

For next week: We’ll be playing around with light in order to practice with good lighting angles.  They aren’t always what you might expect! Here’s a helpful post with an infographic about directional lighting.

Link up your Theme Thursday posts below, or use the hashtag #ThemeThursday on Instagram.  Heck if you’re crazy, do both! Can’t wait to see your lovely photos, friends.

  1. Totally unrelated to the picture (of an adorable baby) but I am am missing the California gene I think. I just don’t get the appeal. But what do I know? Anyway, love Miss Rosalie!! We will definitely be thinking of you and your grandmother today. I will offer our rosary today for her.

    • Thanks, Madeline. She passed peacefully last night, and I’m quite sure it was because she had so many people praying for her.

And I am losing my California gene. I want somewhere with reasonable weather. Is that too much to ask? Rosie Hill swears Virginia is the pace to be. I’m tempted. 🙂

  2. Sweet baby! Thanks for the inspiration to focus on a theme again!

And I’m offering prayers for your sweet Granny!

    • Thank you for the prayers, Mary. She passed away peacefully last night. I was fortunate enough to be with her wen she died. Please pray for the repose of her soul, if you don’t mind. Her name is Priscilla.

  3. Yeah, I was lucky to go out yesterday and get some photos. Today has been super foggy ALL day!

    • I’m kinda jealous. Actually not kinda. I’m really really jealous. Ugh. So tired of the heat. I’m actually in Friant now and it’s not so bad. Other than being stranded by the Grapevine mudslide closure, anyway. But the weather is pretty nice.

      • I was SO happy to get out of that heat and bad air! I love it up here. The roads are open between Friant and Mckinleyville. Just sayin’….if you can’t get home, a trip to see the Redwoods would be very educational and you guys could enjoy cooler weather!

  4. AWWWWW ~
She’s adorable! Love love love any pics of your sweetie ( s ) !!
    Thanks for hosting!

I’m off to check out a few TT posts

Prayers to you and your gm for peace, mercy and comfort.
( my mother passed similarly 9 weeks ago 🙁 )

    • I’m so sorry for your loss, Allie. Losing a mother can’t be easy. I’ll be praying for her soul. And on a much less important note, I’m praying for fall weather!

  6. I’m so excited that you are doing this! Your photo of your precious girls is lovely. That face! (And she’s getting so big!) But I have to admit that the photo with granny and Rosalie Choked. Me. Up. So beautiful.

  8. Hooray for the return of Theme Thursday!! The baby keeps my posting a bit erratic still, but I am going to try to participate. Looking ahead though…what is ‘catchlights’?

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of your grandmother. How wonderful, though, that she went peacefully! Blessings to you and yours!
