Old-fashioned: Theme Thursday

Did you hear?  Did you did you did you?  Did you hear about Madeline the Theme Thursday Superhero of all Superheros?  She resurrected Theme Thursday, and all it took was a little ol’ meme which looks a little something like this?

Which is, like, so super adorable even for people who detest cats (like me).  (Hey, you’d detest them too if they made your eyes swell and your arms itch and your nose sneezy and sometimes sent you to the ER with difficulty breathing.)

But THEN! As if Madeline wasn’t already my most favoritest person of the day today, I got her package for our Busy Bag Craft Swap just this very minute and it’s so cute! And felty!  So I had to make this meme just for her:

I’m just so so happy to have Theme Thursday back, y’all.  It’s been a really long time since I practiced any photography whatsoever.

I’ve been feeling old-fashioned and crafty lately, especially since I found out we’re having a baby GIRL!!!!  Something about the estrogen is making me want to sew or knit, or…  Perhaps I’ll start with bambina’s stocking, since she’ll be a newborn then.  🙂

In the meantime, here’s my submission for today’s theme: “Old-fashioned.”

Because if fermenting and canning my own sauerkraut isn’t old-fashioned, I don’t know what is.  By the way, I had this photo because I’m planning to do a how-to post on this.  Anybody interested?  It really is much much yummier than store-bought ‘kraut.

Okay, now head back to Cari @ Clan Donaldson to see other old-fashioned pictures because, she, answering the call of duty, is my second hero of the day.

  1. I am so glad you got it and like it! I love my meme. I know what you mean. I have almost no pictures from the beginning of Lent until now. Apparently Theme Thursday got me to pick up my camera a lot “just in case.” I’m all for living in the moment and not over taking pictures but I have probably 12. Since February. But it’s back! Oh and congratulations on Baby Girl! They think we are maybe having a girl too so they can be cross country besties.

  2. I’m totally on the same old-fashioned page as you – just made a ton of jam today and canned it 🙂 And I’ll read a sauerkraut tutorial but I can pretty much guarantee I’m not going to make it because… Cabbage. Gross. Although cabbage roasted with bacon is delicious… You tell me about all the nutritional benefits and how it will make my life magical and maaaaaybe I’ll think about it 😉

  5. If I make homemade sauerkraut, do I have to eat it? And how exactly do I do that?
The whole canning thing seriously intimidates me…but I’m very impressed by your old-fashioned domesticity.
And congratulations on Baby Girl! That’s so exciting!

  6. Yummy! I would love to know how to make homemade sauerkraut!
    And congrats on the girl!!

  7. You’re having a girl!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! I’m loving the old-fashioned theme. My mom used to can everything. I remember her even caning homemade tomato juice just for my dad so that he could drink red beers in the summer time. Now, that is some love!

  1. […] Thursday is back!  Thanks to Madeline!  I jumped right on the first week, then slacked last week, cause that’s just sooooo typical of me.  But I’ll be back. […]
