Black & White: Theme Thursday

Hey.  Don’t be mad.  It’s still Thursday, okay.

Alright, I’m sorry.  Last night I made the conscious decision not to blog and you deserve better, Theme Thursday-ans.

Who loves black and white photos?  {hand straight up}

Who really struggles to take good black and whites? {up it goes again}

I read a suggestion once that b&w is all about finding an obvious light source so there is contrast in the photo.  Since our eyes can’t see the color (obvi), we have to make up for all the grays by making a more obvious contrast with b&w.

There is just something about those gangly, dirty legs that scream childhood to me.

So I don’t think I ‘won’ at b&w this week, but I do think I feel motivated to try and find that perfect lighting for it.  Lots more practice is what I need.

How about you?  What you got for me?

  1. Crucial to a good B&W pic is setting a white point and black point. I used to not love B&W photos but I have this collage wedding frame / guest sign instead of a guest book and we filled it with B&W pictures and they are growing on me.
