Big News! Theme Thursday is coming back!

Friends, I am so excited to share this news with you. Theme Thursday is coming back to the internets!

Cari of Clan Donaldson and Ghost Fawn Homestead was my very first blog friend (and now a very real friend indeed) and my inspiration on many levels. Cari has graciously allowed me to take over Theme Thursday, since she’s busy doing actual productive work like farming and homesteading and such.

What’s Theme Thursday, you ask? I’m so glad you did! Theme Thursday is a weekly photography link-up, each with a specific prompt.  It’s a low pressure way to work on our photography skills, and pretty up our blogs/Instagram feed while we’re at it. Plus, you get to see my cute kids most of the time, so that’s fun too. Extra bonus: many, many of the women I know through blogging, I met through Theme Thursday.  I like me some new friends, so come on and play!

The Theme Thursday rules are: there are no rules.  Well, okay, there may be a couple guidelines, but that’s it. My hope is that anyone who chooses to participate will find him/herself becoming a little more confident behind a camera. Make it what you want it to be!

  • You can use a camera phone, a point-and-shoot, or a DSLR. Any camera is fine!
  • Beginning and experienced photographers are welcome.
  • If you have a blog, link it up!
  • If you don’t, you can post on Instagram, using the hashtag #ThemeThursday and/or tag me with your TT photos.  (I’m @micaela_darr over there.)
  • If you’re already set for link-ups, you’re welcome to throw your Theme Thursday post inside a 5 Favorites or a 7 Quick Takes.

Without further ado, here are the prompts for October and November:

Theme Thursday Oct Nov

For October, we’re taking it back to basics. Good lighting in a photo makes the difference between meh and ah-meh-zing. (See what I did there?) Let’s practice!

In November, I figured some of us might be taking family Christmas photos.  Time to brush up on those portrait skills.

I’ll try to post a helpful link a week ahead of time in case you’re unfamiliar with the prompt.  For next week, we’re going really old school: Sun flare was the very first Theme Thursday link up ever. Here’s my post from way back when we were in South Korea. And here’s a good description about what sun flare is and how to capture it.

If you want some more background, here’s a link to all my Theme Thursday posts. I hope I get to see lots of you back next week!
