Homeschooling Mission & Purpose: {link up alert!}

It’s the thick of summer as far as weather goes, but Kevin went back to work today (waaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!) which means our school year is creeping up on us.  How about we chat this week about what we’re doing this year? And hey, how about a link-up party too? [scroll down]

I have at least 2 more posts planned for this week, so make sure you come back if you’re not a regular visitor!

Homeschooling Mission Chalkboard

The Students:

I began by writing my mission and purpose but somewhere along the way I realized that my mission and purpose are completely useless without my kiddos for whom I do all this.  Meet my crew:

Gianna, grade 4 (WHAT?)

Aliya, grade 3

Rosalie "Chins" Darr, paper eater

Ezekiel, tagalong

These are my people. Now for the other big stuff:

Family mission:

To be a loving, joyful, faithful, connected, and educated family, giving glory to God and service to neighbor.

Homeschooling purpose:

To encourage critical thinking and a love of learning, with a specific focus on literature and historical studies.

Do:

Read aloud, encourage each other, learn a lot, pray, work, play.

Don’t:

Over-schedule, expect too much, berate self, nag children, lose focus of Mission^ and Purpose.^

Join me tomorrow to see what our curriculum looks like this year!

Aw heck, let’s make it a party.  Link up your recent/future homeschool posts so we can ogle each other’s goodies.

Edited to add: please make sure to link back here if you join the link party below.  Thanks, peaches!

  3. Love this, Micaela! Thanks for hosting the link-up!

  4. I hardly ever start out the year with a vision or clearly stated purpose. I think if I managed to come up with one, I’d have to have it printed and posted somewhere very visible so that I’d see it regularly in the midst of the day-to-day stuff as a reminder of what it’s all about! Might consider this…!
Thanks for hosting the link-up! Just added my post from Tues 🙂
