Setting the World on Fire: a Catholic Women’s Conference

Last year Kendra and I hosted a conference for local-ish Catholic women bloggers.  It was a smashing success, if I do say so myself.  After Gus was born I began to think about hosting another one, but something kept pulling at me.  I finally realized that I wanted to give to *all* women the fortification we received at last year’s conference.

Feeling called to switch it up a bit, we shifted our focus to include any Catholic woman who would like to participate, no blog needed. We began discussing what a conference for women would look like and two themes kept emerging: evangelization and community.

What is expected of us as women in the New Evangelization, and how do we reach a secular culture?

How do we form communities of faith that will sustain us and send us forth with the strength to do the heavy-lifting of being Catholic in a world that rejects most of Catholicism?

In essence, how do we ground and nourish ourselves in the faith, and how do we reach out to others to share the love of Christ?

Well, we may not have all the answers, but we’re working on getting you off to a strong start. Introducing, “Setting the World on Fire: a instruction manual.”

Inspired by St. Catherine of Siena’s quote, “Be who God made you to be and you will set the world on fire,” we invite all Catholic women to join us for a day of faith and fellowship.

You may know Meg from her blog, Held by His Pierced Hands, or from her writing at Aleteia.  She travels the country (indeed, the world!) speaking to young people and adults about God’s love for us.  She calls herself a hobo for Christ, and her love for and knowledge of Him is inspiring to everyone who meets her.

She knows a little something about building Catholic communities and she’s going to share her wisdom with us!
